Burnham Ramblers Juniors Football Club have achieved the F.A. Charter Standard award. Being a Club with severeal teams, with new teams, Managers, Coaches and Volunteers coming on board all the time it has taken a while to achieve this honour and we should all be proud of our achievement. To gain this award all of our Managers, Coaches and Volunteers of our Club had to give up their time to attend various courses which are compulsary to achieve the FA Charter Standard award. Thanks go out to them all for the hard work they have contributed and for the Saturday mornings given up to train the boys and girls and Sundays being match days.

The letter we received from Les Howie the National Club Development Manager at the Football Association read as follows:

"Congratulations, I am delighted to inform you that your club has achieved the Charter Standard Club award.

Can I remind clubs that they should follow the good practice in relation to Child Protection and Good Practice Workshop and Policy and Procedures, most notably:

  • Always interview new volunteers
  • Always obtain references on volunteers
  • Always work in pairs

This provides your club with recognition for the quality provision you provide your members.

It therefore, goes without saying that we expect our Charter Standard Clubs to continue to offer this high level of provision, which you have achieved to obtain this award and to follow the Child Protection and Good Practice advice of above.

I would like to remind you that we expect your Club to attend at least one In-Service Training event during each 12 month period.

On Saturday 1st November 2003 at Southend United Football Club the presentation of the award will take place during the half-time period of the match between Southend United F.C. and Northampton Town F.C. Representing our Club and receiving the award on behalf of the Club will be Martin Leno.
